"In February 2002, Shelter appointed Active Service to undertake
the technical work on two of our websites: Shelter
Scotland, and ROOF
Magazine. Both of these websites are managed remotely, so we needed
- on a charity budget - to provide editorial staff with tools for managing
website content without the need for extensive technical training. Within
a few weeks, Active Service deployed the first release of an easy-to-use
content management system, which allowed editors to create, publish
and monitor site content with ease. The system included tools for managing
workflow (with different rights assigned to different levels of website
editor), embargo functions, an image library for managing site photographs,
dynamic feedback forms and more.
"Since the first release of Active Service's content management
system back in April '02, the communications programmes of both Shelter
Scotland and ROOF magazine have become more complex, and thus the needs
of their websites have continued to grow. Active Service have been very
flexible, and with each new release, new solutions have emerged. The
content management system has proved to be both robust and scalable,
and a serious alternative to the "out-of-the-box" solutions
which we generally found to be bloated and prohibitively expensive.
I recommend Active Service without hesitation."
