David Prys Jones was the only child of John and Ethel Jones nee Peters. Born in Wigan, (birth certificate) he was educated at Wigan Grammer School, where his father was the assistant headmaster, and Manchester University where he took his LLB with honours in 1934. He was called to the bar by Gray's Inn the following year and joined the Northern Circuit in 1936. He was commissioned into the Manchester Regiment (TA) in 1939 and subsequently served in the Judge Advocate General's Department. He became an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions in 1966 and was appointed a Metropolitan Stipendiary Magistrate in 1969. He retired in December 1981 and died the following February.
Joan Wiltshire was the only child of Percy and Ada Jane Wiltshire nee Williams. Also born in Wigan, Joan attended Cambridge University prior to her marriage to David who she met in Anglesey, North Wales.
Richard was born on 5 June 1947 at 56 Ellerdine Road, Hounslow and the family lived in the West London area before settling in Croydon, South London.
