This family is linked via the marriage of Margaret Williams b 1822 to Robert Davies b 1817. On the 1871 census, Margaret gave her place of birth as Ty Mawr. In the Ruabon parish registers an entry was found for the baptism of Margaret Williams on 19th April 1822 to William Williams and Mary, farmers of Pantygarn. Tracing the baptisms of her siblings, more records were found for William and Mary, farmers of Pantygarn, until the baptism of John Williams on 22nd Mary 1829 on which the abode has changed to "Ty Mawr".

Conclusive evidence of the link between the Ty Mawr, Williams family and the Plas Drain, Davies family has been provided from the marriage of Jane Williams (born 3rd July 1827) and Edward Jones (born 1821, Ty Gwyn). In 1871 and 1881 they can be seen living in Southsea, Bersham where Edward was a farmer and publican of the Rollers Arms. Edward and Jane had three children: William Edwin; Edward and Mary Jane. William Edwin Jones (1852-1928) is the great grandfather of Anne Donnelly who has provided additional information linking the Williams and Davies families:

1 - Letter dated August 29th 1887 - from Philip Williams, son of William Williams, Pentre Clawdd, Ruabon, to his twin brother James, an extract reads:

"Dear Bro, I had your letter quite safe last week. I was very sorry to hear of the death of Mr Davies Plas Drain, I did not hear of what illness he was suffering from."

The Williams family lived in Pentre Clawdd:

2 - Extract from diary of Catherine Jones, aged 12, January/February 1893. Daughter of William Edwin Jones, granddaughter of Jane Williams (Ty Mawr). NB "Lalla" is Catherine's sister Sarah Jane: January 27th: "Lallie and I went to Southsea cousins house. Ty Mawr and Plas Drain here"; 7th February: "Dada Lallie and I went to Plas Drain".
