Eugene was born to Jules Carlemagne Quevilly (shephard) and Claudine
Clementine Euphemie Barbaux in Hames Boucres, Pas de Calais.

He
enlisted with the "5 Regiment de Dragons" in St Omer in 1893. At that
time he lived in Hames Boucres, canton de Guines, Pas de Calais and later on
at Rue des Hauts Champs, Coulogne. The profession given in his soldiers book
is Journalist which is confirmed from the description of his occupation on Madeleine's
birth certificate as "garcon de bureau". From the little that can
be read from the book, he appears to have been gassed in October 1914 and died
in 1916. His name is inscribed on memorials both inside and outside the church
at Coulogne.

Josephine was born at les Attaques to Jean Jacque Tirard and Marie Catherine
Rosalie Robbe.

Following the death of her husband Eugene, she continued to live at Rue des Hauts Champs, Coulogne with her only child.

She died at Caffiers on 22nd November 1959 and is buried in Coulogne with her
son in law Edward Jones.
Eugene and Josephine were married in Coulogne on 20th November 1896. Witnesses were: Louis Lohte, 35, carpenter, Hames Boucres, Jules Mathorel, 24, chauffeur, Calais (cousin of Eugene); Joseph Carpentier, 63, gardener, Guemps (uncle of Josephine); and Jules Quevilly, 29, journalist, Coulogne.
