Miscellaneous CDR Stuff

I originally planned some pages of various useful information on CD Recording technology, hints, tips, etc. So many other people have done really good jobs already that instead I decided to cop-out and just make this my recommended links, plus a couple of items of my own.

Here are my small but original contributions to the pool of knowledge:

  • WinOnCD
In my view one of the best CD Recording packages, but bought by Roxio who seemed intent on killing it off. At least they did until the English-language edition was announced recently.

  • Re-Writable CDs need to be Formatted
One of the most enduring technical myths about CD Recording, and cause of more confusion about the difference between CD-R and CD-RW than anything else

Links to some of the most useful CD Recording resource sites:

  • CD-R Resources (Mike Richter)
A site full of well-researched information on CD Recording, widely respected for its accuracy of content and including the much-read Primer.
  • CD-R FAQ (Andy McFadden)
A wealth of answers to Frequently (and even Occasionally!) Asked Questions on CD Recording
  • CD-RW Central
An excellent UK-based site with news and articles, mainly relating to CD Recording products - hardware and software
  • CD-R Info
Another useful site with news and information.

With DVD Recording now rapidly becoming affordable, all the sites above cover DVD as well.
